With the Mendel as a starting point you can enjoy a multitude of magnificent tours where a panoramic view is guaranteed. To get to the Mendel, it’s best to take the Mendel cable car. But you’ll have to bike your way to the Mendel valley station. It’s a nice, leisurely ride through fields to Lake Kaltern. After St. Josef am See, you follow the wine trail – as the name suggests, through vineyards – up towards Kaltern. Always with Lake Kaltern in view. From the centre of the village, continue up to the Mendel cable car.
The route is also well suited for a short afternoon round without continuing up the Mendola. Then take it easy and treat yourself to a cappuccino or some gelato on the market square in Kaltern. Kaltern has a beautiful village center with many nice shops you can enjoy.
