Vineyards to the horizon
The Wein.weg leads from Kaltern through the vines to the Kalterer See and back. Along the way, the names of the vineyards are embedded in limestone white thresholds.
The start of the Wein.weg takes place in Kaltern at Rottenburgerplatz. Turn right up Mendelstraße, then left into Maria von Mörlweg. At the end of Maria von Mörlweg, turn left along the main road, then right down Europastrasse and right into Barleiterweg. Follow this path with no. 12 in the direction of Lake Kaltern until you reach the Barleiterhof. Turn here onto 12A and continue to St. Josef am See. Cross the Altenburgerbach and down to the Weinstraße. Turn left and follow the main road for a while until you reach a bus stop. Cross the road here and follow the path down to the lake. At the parking lot turn left towards Seerundweg with number 3 and follow it. After the Restaurant Geier follow the path number 3. This leads the hiker through vineyards back to the starting point in Kaltern.
